Koeln, Germany-based software company TimeTours launched new version of its TimeTours multimedia app. The software runs on the iPhone, iPod and iPad. TimeTours: Chichen Itza v.1.1 takes the viewer on a guided tour to the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza. This version offers more detailed information, additional media and GameCenter support. The new design also includes two mini-games. Regular features are accurately rendered 3D stills, animated structures, and full panoramas. These allow viewers to make comparisons of Chichen Itza as it appears today against how it looked some 900 years ago. The app serves as a practical guide for tourists visiting the archaeological site. It is also a doorway for virtual travelers exploring the past.
